In 2024, as owners or Rockside Winery, we hosted a group of customers on a European river cruise on the Rhine river from The Netherlands to Switzerland. We had 33 customers join us for the trip, and we earned a free trip. That was our 5th trip in 10 years, and each time we joined for free. It wasn't that hard, it did not take a lot of time, and it built a sense of comradery and enthusiasm with the customers who joined us.

How do I find travelers to join the trip?

It works best if you own a business, or belong to a group, that has a common interest. For example, because we own a winery, a wine oriented trip was the perfect solution! We chose river cruises and land travel that included lots of wine related activities. Brewery owners, charities, clubs, friends groups, and other like minded people are perfect choices.

Are there any minimum number of travelers? How many have to go?

There are minimums, and they vary by the type of trip (cruise, land based, etc), but in most cases 10 people are enough to fund one host's fare.

Is it really free?

If you make your minimum traveler requirement you will receive the trip for free. Generally that does not include travel to/from, but everything else.

What's included?

Again, it varies by trip. In general, travel costs to and from the starting/ending point are not included. We always recommend trips that include everything else. Accommodations, food, excursions, and entertainment are included whenever possible.

Do I need to host personally?

As the business owner it is always a good thing for you to join the trip. It builds loyalty and comradery among your customers. But you are welcome to give the trip away if you would rather. You can make it a contest and give away the free trip, or you can give it to a top employee. The choice is yours.

What if we don't make the minimums?

Most trips have graduating rewards. After so many signups 1 person goes. After twice that many two people go. If you only earn one person's fare you can always pay for a second, or decide to give that free trip to someone else.
